My name is Donyea Cooley-White, better known online as Mr BlackMagik. Growing up with a dad that played video games, I’ve had a controller in my hands ever since I was a kid. My fondest gaming memories are of classic N64 games (Mario Party, Turok, Perfect Dark, Tony Hawk, the list goes on…) and of course, Halo 2 on Xbox.

Halo 2 is where it all started for me. It was my first online gaming experience and it eventually led to my involvement in competitive gaming with MLG. Later on I got into other competitive shooters such as Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. But that’s a story for another day.

Thanks to Halo 2, my passion still lies with the first and third-person shooter genre. I also highly enjoy stealth, specific sports titles, puzzle, and generally anything that catches my eye.

Outside of gaming I am a full-time college student working towards a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Technology. It was always between IT and Game Development for me as a kid, and IT won. I did however spend a few years in the gaming industry as a Quality Assurance Tester for Activision. One of their branches is located here in Minnesota and I got to work on games such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Deadpool, NASCAR, and dreadfully even Angry Birds Trilogy. Seriously, check the credits!

Near the middle of 2014, a few friends and I started the DRM Gamecast. A podcast for us to discuss general gaming topics and opinions. Not too long after it expanded into a full website producing news, reviews, and other daily content. The DRM Gamecast has since officially ended and the experience was great for me. I learned a lot about gaming websites, PR work, reviews, and much more. Now I’ve decided to scale back and release opinions and reviews of my own.
